Mario Vargas Llosa wins Nobel Prize/ Mario Vargas Llosa gana premio Nobel

According to the official web site of the Nobel Prize, the Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa won the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature “for his cartography of structures of power and his trenchant images of the individual’s resistance, revolt, and defeat”.

De acuerdo con la página oficial de Internet del premio Nobel, el escritor peruano Mario Vargas Llosa ganó el premio Nobel de Literatura 2010 “por su cartografía de las estructuras del poder y sus afiladas imágenes de la resistencia, rebelión y derrota del individuo”.

Women/Power Film Series

The movie Tear This Heart Out, based on the novel “Arráncame la vida”, will be screened on the Women/Power Series event in Washington, D.C.

The Women /Power Film Series launches on October 5, 2010 with a special presentation by the Mexican author Ángeles Mastretta and the screening of the movie based on her novel “Arráncame la Vida”. The public can enjoy other films, mostly from Hispanic America, until October 15. Among these are: The Headless Woman (Argentina), The Maid (Chile), and María Cano (Colombia).  Each movie will be shown at 6:30 p.m. in the Art Museum of the Americas or other buildings of the Organization of American States. For more information about this event and others organized by the Art Museum of the Americas, visit their web site.

El evento Women/Power Film Series comenzará el 5 de octubre de 2010 con una presentación especial de la autora mexicana Ángeles Mastretta  y la proyección de la película basada en su novela “Arráncame la Vida”. El público podrá disfrutar de otros filmes, mayormente hispanoamericanos, hasta el 15 de octubre. Entre éstos se encuentran: La Mujer sin Cabeza (Argentina), La nana (Chile) y María Cano (Colombia). Cada película se mostrará a las 6:30 p.m. en el Art Museum of the Americas u otros edificios de la Organización de los Estados Americanos. The National Book Festival, organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress, will have the participation of the Chilean-American writer Isabel Allende.
